President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Tuesday (15) that the good moment of the industrial sector may be attributed to the policies adopted by the government, which preach economic, political, legal and social stabilities, ensuring predictability for the business environment.
“There are a lot of people who think that what is happening is normal, who has nothing to do with the [Fernando] Haddad on the farm has nothing to do with Lula in the presidency. The industry is growing because it is luck. Is this true? ”Asked Lula as he participated in an event to mark the beginning of the production of the new Nissan Kicks, a vehicle of the Japanese manufacturer in his industrial plant in the municipality of the southern Fluminense region.
Lula recalled that the number of vehicles sold in the country fell between 2012 and 2023 and many dealers closed.
“How many dealers closed in this country, because they had no car to sell and, when they had, people had no money to buy. Everyone remembers that. This country did not take into account and need money circulated in the hands of all people,” said the president.
At the event, in Resende (RJ), Investments of the multinational investments in the country of R $ 2.8 billion were announced. They add up to investments announced by the country’s automotive industry, with projections of $ 125 billion by 2033. The factory underwent wide transformation to produce the brand’s main model, as well as another SUV, which will still be launched, and a turbo engine.
“What happened in Brazil is that the money began to circulate, people started to graduate better, to earn a little more, the minimum wage became slightly higher than inflation. There are people who pay the minimum wage very high. Instead of looking at the worker as a salaried, he looks as a consumer,” added the president.
Factory
To realize the manufacture of the new Nissan Kicks, 98 new robots were installed and 297 jobs in the production line. In addition, the factory has gained 29 new automated guided vehicles (AGVs, on the acronym).
The Nissan Industrial Complex in Resende has a vehicle and one engine factory and has a complete production cycle. The unit has about 2.2 Nissan employees, and exceeds 3,000 jobs when it includes supplier employees serving production or providing internal services.
For Nissan President for Latin America, Guy Rodríguez, the goal is for the brand to reach up to 7% of the country’s automotive market in the coming years.
“The automotive sector represents 2.5% of GDP [Produto Interno Bruto] Total of Brazil. If we talk about Industrial GDP, the automotive sector represents 20%. This is the importance of the automotive value chain, so it is important to develop this value chain, “said the executive during the ceremony.

Earlier, still in the state of Rio de Janeiro, President Lula visited the works of the Presidente Dutra Highwayin the Serra das Araras region, in Paracambi, state of Rio de Janeiro. The work, under the responsibility of CCR, the concessionaire company began in April 2024 and are 25% completed.
