The director of the district board of Santiago de la Cruz, Dajabón province, Walfry Francisco Labor Gutiérrez, He gave a deadline of five days this Thursday for undocumented Haitians who are in that town to leave the territory.
«All these actions that we are carrying out are the product of those situations that haitians have been doing here in Santiago de la Cruzhere they have executed ranchers, here you see the haitians through the streets as if nothing has happened, as if they have a document which endorses them as legally on the street,” he indicated.
The official also said that the community can no longer tolerate “the irresponsibility of the authorities of Migration of not doing their job and, since they can’t do it, we take the initiative.
«The authorities do nothing about bringing the undocumented and place them at the door so that they can go to their country, when the military, the Army, allows them to enter our territory with such ease,” he expressed.
He denounced that they currently have a “situation so critical with Haitians that even crazy people see it walking in Dajabón and when the crazy people of one nation get involved in another it is because things are great.
“You see it in front of the Police, in front of the detachments, then we can say that the border is open,” he added.
He stressed that once the deadline expires, he will use the population of Santiago de la Cruz, with the municipal police from the city hall, and they will knock on the doors of the General Directorate of Migration and the Dominican Army to join in the eviction of foreigners.
