Brazil recorded 4,984 new cases of covid-19 in 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin released today (18) by the Ministry of Health. There were 42 confirmed deaths from the disease.
Data for the Federal District, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul (deaths), Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Roraima, Pernambuco and Tocantins were not updated.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Brazil has had 685,376 deaths from covid-19. The total number of confirmed cases of the disease reached 34,587,047.
Also according to the bulletin, 33,734,153 people have recovered from the disease – 97.5% of the total infected. The country has 167,518 cases are under follow-up. There are still 3,176 deaths under investigation. The occurrences involve cases in which the patient died, but the investigation if the cause was covid-19 still requires additional tests and procedures.
