The Colombian authorities seized more than 848 tons of cocaine until December 26, The Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, reported this Sunday, who indicated that this figure represents an increase of 14% compared to the previous year.

“This year, until December 26, the Military Forces and the Police have seized 848.5 tons of cocaine. The war against illicit economies is a commitment of the National Government and the Public Force”Velásquez wrote in his X account.

The information shared by the minister details that also More than 452 tons of marijuana were seized in 2024, an increase of 8% compared to the amount seized in 2023.

On the other hand, there was a decrease in the seizure of base paste, of 21.1%, with 77 tons seized this year, as well as in coca leaves, with a decrease of 1.3%.
