The president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), Hector Porcellareported on Wednesday night that in approximately 15 days the start of commercial flights between the Dominican Republic and Venezuelaafter the official authorization granted by both nations.
Porcella explained that, although the Resolution 24-26 of the JAC authorizes the reactivation of air connectivity after almost two years of suspension, operations have not resumed immediately, as airlines must adjust their logistics and flight scheduling, including the availability of aircraft and routes before starting operations.
The official explained that this organizational process can take between one and three weekswhich is why it is estimated that it will be within about 15 days when the regular operation of the flights.
“The permits are authorized by both States. This is a matter of logistics, that the airlines adjust their operations according to the availability they have,” he highlighted in statements to Free Diary.

Authorized airlines
Regarding the airlines that will be able to operate, the JAC resolution includes: five Venezuelan airlines: Venezuela Air Routes (RAV, SA), Air Routes, CA (RUTACA), Regional Executive Service Air Lines, CA (LASER), Turpial AirlinesCA and Avior Airlines, CA
On the Dominican side, the airlines authorized to offer routes to Venezuela are Red Air SA and Sky High Aviation Dominican SA
He specified that, in addition to the current authorizations, airlines interested in starting flights must request the corresponding permits from the JAC, which are evaluated and approved according to the aeronautical regulations.
Air operations have been suspended since July 29, 2024, after the Government of Venezuela ordered the interruption of commercial flights to and from the Dominican Republic.
At the time, the resumption represented a significant step in the normalization of bilateral relations, marking progress after years of limitations and suspension of consular operations and flights between the two nations.
