Breakage in a main water driver in Havana They will temporarily leave part of the city without service, due to “inevitable substitutions” in the damaged pipe.
The driver supplies several Havana municipalities – among them some of the most populated -, so the works will affect residents in the totality or part of those territories, according to the company Aguas de la Habana.
In A first publication The entity reported that these tasks would “need to make a general stop of the well field from 05:00 am on Tuesday, September 23”.

At least 48 hours and six municipalities

In accordance with the informed, the municipalities affected totally or partially are Centro Habana, Havana Vieja, Plaza, Cerro, Ten of October and Boyeros.
In the case of the first two, the affectation will be complete, while in the square only the area of the hospitals of the Prince and surrounding sectors should not be affected, according to Havana’s waters.
The other three municipalities will have broad effects in an important group of distributions and communities.

In his second note, Havana waters said that “since Sunday, the scheduled brigades to perform the repair are actively working on the field, creating all the necessary conditions, making the transfer of resources, equipment, earth movements and other tasks that do not imply paralyzing the service.”
The goal, he said, “is to minimize the time of affectation once the strike is decided.”
The company reiterated the need for this stop “according to the problems that have historically involved the continuous breakdowns and saliders” in the section where the works will be carried out.
With this, he said, “the most critical vulnerability that the driver presents today” must be eliminated.
The entity thanked “the understanding” of the people who will suffer the effects and promised to keep the population informed through their official channels.

This critical situation, according to the authorities, is due to the impact of drought on the depressed reservoirs of the country and the prolonged blackouts in water pumping.
