IMPO launches three audiovisual series

In turn, until September 30, there will be raffles and activities that can be seen through the IMPO website. The objective with these initiatives is to bring normative knowledge closer to citizens in an entertaining, attractive way and in clear language.

What is a code? Which is the oldest? Which ones exist in our country? These and other questions are answered in the Codex series, an original audiovisual production by IMPO.

According to Fernando Abellá, general director of the IMPO, the idea arose with the aim of bringing normative knowledge closer to citizens, “in a pleasant, attractive way and in clear language that overcomes those legal technicalities that sometimes make understanding so difficult. of the rules”.

Thus, the Codex series, through its 36 chapters, covers the entire rich history of normative codification, from its origins to the present. Today, Uruguay has 12 current codes: Customs, Aeronautical, Civil, Water, Commerce, Childhood and Adolescence, Mining, Criminal Process, General Process, Criminal, Rural and Tax Code.

Among the interesting data that can be seen in the series, is the fact that the first code approved in our country was the Commerce Code in 1865 and the last reformed was the Criminal Procedure Code in 2014. In turn, the Civil Code it is the most extensive, since it has 2,404 articles, while the shortest is the Tax Code, which includes only 112 articles.

In addition to Codex, the IMPO will launch two more series: the so-called “Magna Carta”, which will address the constitutional history of Uruguay and consists of 18 chapters, while the third series will be “Eureka”, which honoring its meaning (celebration of discovery or discovery), will deal through its 48 chapters with topics of general and cultural interest, which refer to milestones in the fields of science and technology.

According to Abellá, these series will be broadcast through social networks, as well as through the IMPO screens, the YouTube channel, and bus screens. The general director invited citizens to enter the IMPO website (www.impo.com.uy) since in addition to knowing the material, throughout these months different activities and raffles will be carried out on their social networks, some of which are already active.
