A study by the Tourism Economy Intelligence Center (Ciet), of the São Paulo State Department of Tourism and Travel, traced the profile and spending of visitors to the Agrishow fair, an agribusiness event, which took place from April 25th to 29th, in Ribeirao Preto. According to Ciet, 85.2% of the participants were from outside the Metropolitan Region of Ribeirão Preto, a rate considered high.
The study revealed that more than 135,000 people from across the country attended the fair, excluding residents. The event had an economic impact – total spending by tourists – of almost R$ 400 million across the region.
The survey also showed that, from zero to 10, visitors gave the fair an average score of 8.9. The average stay was 4.4 days and the total individual expenditure in the period was R$ 2,901.
According to the survey, 41.7% of visitors stayed in hotels, 33.4% opted for the day trip and did not stay, 12.2% rented properties through hosting platforms or applications, 6.3% appealed to friends or relatives’ homes, and 4.9% stayed in hostels or hostels.
Regarding the means of transport to reach the city, 59.1% were by car, 12.8% by plane, 12.7% by chartered bus; and 8.7% on regular buses. In addition to the fair and accommodation, the main activities and expenses were gastronomy (47.1%), shopping (30.7%) and nightlife and bars (29.8%).
