Immobilization of A320 aircraft: so you can check the status of your flight in real time

Aerocivil ordered to immobilize part of the A320 for an urgent Airbus update. This is how travelers can review their flights.

The Civil Aeronautics reported that a urgent software update required by Airbus will force immobilize part of the A320 fleet that operates in the country, a preventive measure that will begin to be applied from November 29, 2025 at 7 p.m. The decision was announced after the European manufacturer notified worldwide of the need to implement immediate technical adjustments in certain equipment of this family of aircraft.

The aircraft involved must remain at their respective maintenance bases until the required technical procedures are completed. It is a temporary immobilization which responds to direct instructions from the manufacturer and must be executed under strict supervision of the Colombian aeronautical authority.

Coordination between the institutions seeks to ensure that the work progresses without delays and meets the technical standards established by international regulations.

According to the entity, the priority is to maintain maximum levels of operational safety in air transport. Therefore, measures are being adopted to minimize the effects on flight scheduling while technical work is carried out. Each aircraft must have the software update before flying again. Both the entity and the airlines are organizing resources to expedite the execution of the adjustments. Supervision will be permanent until the entire A320 fleet meets the requirements established by the manufacturer.

In addition to the official recommendations, passengers have several alternatives to check the status of your flights during temporary immobilization. Among the most practical options are the official websites of each airline and airport, where itineraries are updated in real time:

  • Avianca: https://www.avianca.com
  • LATAM: https://www.latamairlines.com
  • El Dorado Airport: https://www.eldorado.aero/vuelos

You can also use the mobile applications of each company and the Civil Aeronautics portal available at https://www.aerocivil.gov.co. Additionally, platforms such as FlightAware and Flightradar24 offer real-time updates. Artificial intelligence assistants integrated into travel apps allow you to consult itineraries and receive personalized alerts, facilitating access to timely information during the technical process in the A320 fleet.

Passengers are recommended keep in touch with your airlines to find out about possible adjustments to the itineraries or effects derived from the temporary immobilization of the Airbus A320. Companies will inform any modifications through their applications and email while the required update progresses.
