SANTO DOMINGO.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) issued a notice to all citizens and the foreign community resident in the country, warning that the “Temporary Worker” card (TT-1) is a document of character immigration and labor valid exclusively for the performance of the remunerated activity that appears in the registered employment contract that originated its issuance or renewal.
The DGM explains that the permission granted with TT-1 category does not enable its owner to carry out activities other than those expressly authorized nor to work in areas or sectors other than those for which they were approved.
This provision, highlights the institutionis based on Article 56 of the General Migration Law No. 285-04which states that: “The Temporary Worker card will enable its holder to carry out the paid activity that gave rise to his or her admission, for the assigned period. Anyone who carries out work activities without being provided with their respective card, or carries out work activities other than those authorized, or transgresses the authorized period of stay, will be considered an illegal alien, subject to deportation in accordance with the provisions of this law.”
lDGM warns TT-1 card holdersthat the exercise of unauthorized activities, such as motoconcho, taxi, street sales or other jobs other than those covered by your permit, constitutes a violation of current immigration and labor regulations; and that in these casesand will proceed to the immediate cancellation of the documentwithout prejudice to the other administrative or immigration sanctions that may apply.
