HOLY SUNDAY.– The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that, as a result of the operations carried out in recent days at the national level, 942 foreigners with irregular immigration status were detained and 772 citizens were deported.
The operations were deployed in sectors of the National District and the Santo Domingo province, such as Villa Mella, Villa Faro, Villa María and Los Alcarrizos.
In the provinces of Santiago and Barahona, irregular immigrants were detained in sectors such as El Peñón, Fundación, Cabral and Cachón.
While in Puerto Plata they intervened in sectors such as San Felipe, Los Bordas, Buenos Aires, Los Caberos, Los Mameyes and Los Núñez.
The highest incidences were recorded in Greater Santo Domingo (200), Mao-Santiago Rodríguez (84), Independencia (55) and Dajabón (50). The DGM deported 772 foreigners through the Dajabón (208) and Elías Piña (417) border crossings, from where they were handed over to the Haitian authorities.
Army Operation
Drone units of the Dominican Republic Army detected 34 Haitians with irregular immigration status who were hidden in a property under construction, located in the province of Dajabón.
After the aerial detection, Army ground patrols moved to the Los Limones farm, in the El Libertador sector, where they proceeded to arrest the group of undocumented foreigners, as part of the immigration surveillance and control operations at the border.
Among those detained are 17 women, 9 men and 8 minors, without legal documentation to remain in the country.
