MIAMI, United States. — The United States Border Patrol intercepted this Tuesday 19 Cuban migrants who arrived at Key Colony Beach, in the Florida Keys.
According to a report released by Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar, the operation had the support of local partners and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
“U.S. Border Patrol agents and LE partners responded to a landing of immigrants at Key Colony Beach and encountered 19 Cuban immigrants,” the officer noted.
The Cubans arrived in the US aboard a small craft boat.
Throughout the last week, Slosar has reported on the arrival of dozens of Cubans in South Florida. Most of them have been returned to the Island.
The Angela McShan and Pablo Valents coast guard crews repatriated on Monday 187 Cuban migrants who had disembarked in recent days at different points in the Florida Keys.
Last Sunday there were also 273 rafters, for a total of 460 Cuban migrants deported in just two days.
The massive deportations of Cubans have accelerated after the US authorities reinforced the presence of protection agents in the area. Those operations were joined by the Florida National Guard by order of Governor Ron DeSantis.
