Despite the intensification of the policies of the United States government against irregular immigration, Cubans continue trying to reach the northern country by sea.
This same week, 42 Cubans (35 men and seven women) were returned to Cuba, after being intercepted at sea in their attempt to reach the United States. While last Friday another 74 were repatriated, who were involved in three illegal departures from the country.
So far this year, more than 2,600 Cubans have been returned to the island from the United States.
In recent days, the United States Embassy in Havana Indian that all people who jump into the sea will be ineligible indefinitely for the humanitarian parole program launched by the Biden administration last January.
The measure – the diplomatic headquarters indicated – applies retroactively to all those who have tried to reach the United States illegally by sea from April 27 onwards.
