The Legal Medical Institute (IML) of São Paulo reported on Wednesday night (14) that the bodies of 60 of the 62 victims of the crash of flight 2283 from Voepass Linhas Aéreas. The plane crashed last Friday (9), in the municipality of Vinhedo (SP), leaving no survivors.
The bodies are being identified at the Central Unit of the IML in the city of São Paulo, in the Pinheiros neighborhood. Of the 60 bodies identified, 30 have already been released to their families. The identification work is being carried out by more than 40 doctors and members of forensic dentistry, anthropology and radiology teams, with support from the Ricardo Gumbleton Daunt Identification Institute (IIRGD).
The criminal investigation into the accident is being conducted by the São Paulo Civil Police, through the Vinhedo Police Station, which has already opened a police inquiry. The investigations are ongoing under judicial secrecy. The Federal Police have also begun an investigation into the accident. The police investigation is taking place in parallel with that of the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa), which is focused on preventing further accidents.
Ecumenical act
Voepass organized an ecumenical event that will take place in the capital of São Paulo, this Thursday (15), seven days after the accident. The ceremony will be held at the hotel where the victims’ families are staying, in the city center, and is restricted to relatives and authorities.
