Quite strong are the images that were known in the last hours and in which the serious accident that a motorcyclist suffered on a road in the country is observed.
According to the reports, the incident took place on the morning of this Wednesday, March 29, on the highway that connects the municipalities of Oiba and Socorro, in the department of Santander.
The images of the accident were recorded on security cameras in the area.
In them it can be seen when the motorcyclist literally “won the curve”, he continued long, lost control and ended up crashing into the protective wall of the opposite lane.
However, the situation could have been much worse, the reason? A truck and an inter-municipal service bus were coming from the other side.
Both could have run him over.
It happened between the municipalities of Oiba and Socorro, in Santander.

Motorcyclist, a second can cost you your life
On the country’s roads, accidents due to the recklessness of some drivers, speeding, dangerous maneuvers, overtaking in prohibited areas and more, traffic rules that many do not comply with, are “daily occurrences”.
Motorcycles are involved in more than 45% of road accidents in Colombia.
And it is precisely motorcyclists who are most vulnerable to serious injuries or even losing their lives.
In the maneuvers that drivers carry out, however simple they may seem, they can have serious consequences. “One second of distraction, and it can cost your life.”
Therefore, speeding, not stopping at established points, overtaking on the right, making prohibited turns, among others, are some of the imprudence.

Such was the case of a motorcyclist in Bucaramanga, when trying to overtake a heavy-duty truck, he ended up in the middle of another vehicle that was coming from the opposite direction.
In the images you can see that the yellow lines are continuous, that in traffic regulations, it is forbidden to overtake.
The person was transferred by ambulance to a care center with multiple injuries.
Overtaking in curves, are other cases where accidents also occur, this maneuver it is of great danger.
Therefore, from a technical point of view, it is not just about overtaking, but how and where to perform this action.
In most cases, these signals are not respected and many end up doing the action even if the lines are continuous.
Recklessness in urban areas
Both on national and urban roads, the number of drivers who carry out improper actions is very high.
Running a red light, overtaking vehicles on the right, zig zag through the avenues, are some of the imprudence committed while driving.

Speeding and even worse when it is raining is another cause of accidents.
In these cases, if the vehicles travel at high speed, with a wet floor and in case of “dry” braking, the tires would slip and continue moving forward.
If it is the case of braking, by another vehicle that is in front, it will end up crashed.
For this reason, traffic authorities ask drivers to abide by traffic signs, both to avoid fines and most importantly to preserve life.
