MADRID, Spain.- Cuban broadcaster Yunior Morales, known for his criticism of the regime and the island’s rulers, denounced this week that he was being threatened “in an underhanded manner and through false profiles that do not show their faces.”
“Yunior, be careful out there”, “Yunior, don’t go out alone at night”, are some of the messages he is receiving, he explained in a direct message on Facebook, where he assured that he was not afraid, but that he was alerting his followers.
“I am not afraid and I am not going to limit myself and I am going out. (…) I’m not doing it out of fear, I’m doing it to warn him, “insisted the announcer, who also assured that he had no enemies, so there is no reason for someone to hurt him.
“My social relationships are the best. I haven’t hurt anyone. What I express myself, I tell the truth. There are no reasons for someone to do something to me, but if it happens, I am going to defend myself, because I am not afraid, know that, ”she said in another moment of the direct.
Yunior Morales, who has been prohibited by the island’s regime from working live since September 2020, in 2022 denounced the jail threats received, especially after the approval of the new Penal Code.
“They warned me that I had crossed the line and [que] They could take measures with me such as accusing me of contempt,” he explained on that occasion.
Last April Yunior Morales was among the voices of the Cuban cultural sphere that condemned censorship to three audiovisuals —The one in charge, a docu-fiction by Ricardo Figueredo; and the documentaries Fito’s Havanaby Juan Pin Vilar, and exist, by Fernando Fraguela and Yulier Rodríguez— that would be screened at the headquarters of the theater group El Ciervo Encantado. The journalist expressed his solidarity with the creators and offered his house for the projection of the materials.
