Osmani Pardo abandonó Cuba junto a su esposa

“I’m going forced”: Osmani Pardo, San Isidro striker, leaves Cuba

MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban activist Osmani Pardo Guerra, one of the protagonists of the barracks in San Isidro in November 2020, left Cuba this week.

After more than two years of harassment and persecution, Pardo Guerra arrived in Germany accompanied by his wife, according to sources close to him.

The activist Iliana Hernández, who also left the Island last year, shared in social networks a message from the opponent that was published shortly after his departure from the country.

“Brothers in struggle and friends, when you are reading this I will not be in Cuba. As everyone knows, my family and I have suffered harassment, acts of repudiation, threats of all kinds and up to a year in house arrest, they made me serve for an alleged common crime of resistance. Despite all that, my ideals remain intact. I continue and I will continue fighting for the Freedom of Cuba and wherever I am I will give my best until I achieve it, ”he indicated.

The opponent denounced that in Cuba he has been the victim of political persecution and that he has not even been able to work, reasons that led him to go into exile.

“I am leaving my country forced by all of the aforementioned. Here they do not let me live or work, they close the doors wherever I want and they threaten me from private numbers (…). I’m leaving with my wife, who is an anonymous warrior that few know. My wife has been there at every moment, she has suffered with my family and me every arrest and every thing that happens to me, every surveillance that the State Security of this dictatorship carried out on me so that I would not leave the house”.

Pardo Guerra assured that it has been a difficult decision, since in Cuba he leaves his good part of his family.

“I am leaving part of my life, my mother, brother and my pets, Dante and Susi, we all make a great family. I want to thank each person who has always been there in one way or another. I will always be grateful”, sealed the activist.

In December 2021 Osmani Pardo Guerra was sentenced to one year of home confinement for the alleged crime of resistance. The sentence was handed down in summary judgment by the People’s Court of the Municipality of Marianao. The charge of resistance applied against the activist was filed after an arrest carried out by agents of the political police.
