Montevideo City Hall announced that six streets in different Montevideo neighborhoods will be pedestrianized this weekend, complying with what was proposed by the citizens through the “Neighborhood Pedestrians” program.
The Neighborhood Pedestrian program, created by the Intendancy, allowed neighbors to apply for streets to be pedestrianized for a day. The call was opened in February of this year and extended until March.
30 proposals were received, of which the pedestrianization of 24 streets in municipalities A, B, D, E, F and G was approved.
On Saturday, April 30, the first two pedestrian walkways proposed by neighbors began to function, in the Casavalle and Punta Gorda neighborhoods.
Programming Saturday May 7
Orinoco between Michigan and Amazonas, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. It was proposed by the civil association La Experimental from the Malvín neighborhood and groups from the area. There will be workshops, artistic shows and the comparsa La Gozadera will participate.
José Cañas (Calle 20) between continuation Austria and continuation Russia, from 3 to 6 pm. It was proposed by neighbors, neighbors and members of the Estrella del Cerro commission. There will be recreational proposals and a fair of neighbors and residents of the area.
Plaza Cagancha ring road between 18 de Julio and Gral. Rondeau avenues, from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. It was proposed by the Neighborhood Council of the area. There will be chess games and other recreational proposals.

Carlos Gardel between Río Negro and Julio Herrera y Obes, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It was proposed by councilors from the South neighborhood. There will be a sample of tango and milonga, from the group La Dominguera and recreational activities.
Verona between Bolivia and Siracusa, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It was proposed by the Neighborhood Council of zone 8. There will be a playful proposal for Book Day.
Antonio Martínez between Lacio and Jose Piendibene, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It was proposed by the neighborhood committee of the El Hornero Cultural and Sports Center, with the support of the Corners of Culture program of the Intendancy. There will be cultural and entrepreneurial fairs, there will be exhibitions and artistic workshops, and other recreational activities.
