The Intendancy of Montevideo (MI) and Communal CH, issued a statement regarding the burst from the apartment, located in front of the Villa Biarritz square.
The explosion took place in the early hours of Friday morning, where the magnitude of it affected almost the entire building.
This caused the evacuation by firefighters of the people who lived there. Floors two and three are currently in danger of collapsing as a result of the violent deflagration. In addition, the radius of the incident covers several blocks, since adjoining and nearby areas were damaged by the wave that produced the explosion.
Currently, there are two serious people, one of them with 80% of his body burning. A woman admitted to intensive care for carbon monoxide inhalation.
