In a global report on wages, the International Labor Organization (ILO) warns that since 2008 in Mexico real wages have not grown, compared to the group of 20 emerging economies.
This is despite the important adjustments of the last six years, which have not been sufficient to remedy the loss of workers’ purchasing power, indicated in the World Wage Report 2024-2025.
The ILO estimates that the majority of emerging economies (such as China, India, Brazil or Türkiye) will show only a modest
growth in real wages at the end of 2024.
Similar to what happened in advanced economies, 2023 was characterized by real wage growth close to zero among emerging countries, except China, for example, where they have performed better and show no signs of slowing down
