Venezuela’s participation in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) was analyzed by the deputy of the National Assembly (AN), Ilenia Medina in the program “Al Aire”, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), where she expressed that the country is strengthened by the series of meetings with delegations and international blocs that demonstrate friendship with the Venezuelan people.
He explained that contrary to what was expected by the extreme right, Venezuela has a long list of bilateral meetings with countries, “that reflects the strategic importance, the value and the friendship that the peoples of the world give to the country.” He affirmed that in these Assemblies there is expectation of what the heads of State and representatives of each country are going to say. On this occasion, the topic of Venezuela would be addressed.
The parliamentarian described that prior to the General Assembly, the Summit of the Future was held, an event in which a retrospective of the international agenda is given. However, the exact emphasis is not placed on international issues.
He highlighted that in the intervention of Foreign Minister Yván Gil, who participated on behalf of the Committee of Friends of the Charter, and regretted that the Pact of the Future, “was so weak to guarantee absolute respect for the Charter of the United Nations, the non-rejection of forceful unilateral coercive measures and a series of very serious situations in the world such as what is happening in Gaza, and now after that activity, the Assembly, bilateral meetings of the General Assembly are held, where Venezuela will explain its position on a multipolar world.
Medida pointed out that despite the unilateral coercive measures, national sovereignty and the economy have seen a positive upturn. The deputy stated that these results are thanks to the construction of unity, the efforts of workers, peasants and community members, and the private sector that has decided to join in honestly. There is a significant investment, as shown by the agreement to strengthen the country’s communications. “It is the result of the resistance of the Bolivarian process.”
When asked about the arrest warrant for the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, in the case of the Emtrasur plane, the parliamentarian stated that Venezuela has suffered the theft of the Republic’s assets, “for no reason, Venezuela did not violate any of the treaties regarding international civil aviation. Milei’s Government violated international laws, because a kidnapping occurred.”
Regarding the Congress of the Historical Block, he considered that this is a space to strengthen Communal Power and in that sense, the organization that is part of Patria para Todos, will formulate proposals.
