Ignacio Mier has an extensive political career. Before coming to the Senate, he played key roles in the Chamber of Deputies, where he was coordinator of the Morena bench and president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) during the LXV Legislature. His experience already consolidates him as a fundamental figure within the Fourth Transformation project.
Originally from Tecamachalco, Puebla, Mier began his political career in the PRI, with which he obtained a local deputyship. However, in 2006, aligning himself with the principles of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he left the PRI and joined the movement that would later give rise to Morena.
In that same year, he was a candidate for senator for the PRD-PT-Convergencia coalition. Since then, he stands out as one of Morena’s main operators, playing relevant roles in several electoral campaigns. Before being elected federal deputy in 2018, he coordinated Morena’s campaigns in Sinaloa and Durango.
Graduated in Business Administration, Ignacio Mier began his political career at the local level. He was deputy delegate of the National Institute for Adult Education and general coordinator of Planning and Investment in the Government of Puebla. He also held the position of secretary of the state Center for Community Development Studies.
