The militant stated: “Today we are saying goodbye to you, comrade, paying tribute accordingly, because let us not forget that this was not a natural catastrophe, that this was something planned by the Armed Forces to make it disappear, that they did everything and that it went wrong because “They precisely wrapped it with lime and that preserves the bones, which is what allows it to be identified by DNA.”
Errandonea pointed out that the discovery in Arigón confirms that the missing “are, but not only that they are, they are on military premises” and that it is the responsibility of the Armed Forces to provide information on their locations. Furthermore, he accused the current military commanders of acting “with their cowardly action of hiding information,” although he expressed determination by stating: “We continue to advance and we are going to find them all.”
When asked about the recent findings of remains of missing persons, Errandonea maintained that it is plausible that there are more bodies in the area of Battalion 14, where four relatives have already been found.
“Let us not forget that the military, for military intelligence, to pass off lies, tell half-truths,” he said, recalling a report delivered to then-president Tabaré Vázquez that mentioned the burial, disinterment, cremation and scattering of the ashes. “Today we see that in that area that they mentioned, we are finding them,” he said, which fuels the expectation of finding more missing people.
