The mayor of Montevideo, Caroline CosseHe regretted that Uruguay is in the midst of controversy over the cases of Sebastián Marset and Alejandro Astesiano. “If Uruguay becomes a banana country is very sad. If he is no longer respected at the international level, how will he negotiate trade agreements that later lead to work for Uruguayans and Uruguayans? ”, he wondered.
Cosse said that Uruguay, historically, has not “sit down” to negotiate with a “huge market of tens of millions of inhabitants” because “we don’t have it.” On the contrary, he added, “When Uruguay sits down to negotiate, it sits down with its seriousness, with its history and with its trajectory”.
“We cannot lose it,” he told the press this Friday, as a message to the Executive Power.
It was in reference to the “case of Astesiano and company, among others.” “Not to mention the narco to whom we gave the passport (by Marset). He was in prison for a false passport and we gave him a genuine passport. that is dramatic and the whole political system has to work with seriousness and firmness”he expressed.
