This Friday the 3rd, the congressman and spokesman for Peru Libre, Waldemar Cerronminimized the resignations of legislators Jorge Coayla, Elías Varas and Víctor Cutipa to the bench. The aforementioned parliamentarians resigned this week and would form a new parliamentary group.
In statements to the press, Cerrón Rojas assured that the resignations were not due to internal disagreements and affirmed that “there is freedom” of thought in Peru Libre.
“There is no problem, rather it is the solution. If they want to go, let them go. (Is there a strategy to divide them?) Perhaps, one never knows what is going to happen in reality. Suddenly we are dividing to have more strength,” he said.

The pro-government spokesman considered that the bench is not weakened by the recent departures: “It is not losing, losing would be when they leave Congress. It is a great opportunity to show the country what we are capable of doing”.

At another point in his speech, the spokesman for Peru Libre, Waldemar Cerrondownplayed the leaked audio of the president of CongressMaría del Carmen Alva, in which she expresses her intention to call presidential elections in the event that Pedro Castillo is vacated.
