If the president had reacted for 15 days, this situation would not be taking place: leader Toribio García

The regional leader, Toribio García referred this Monday on Radio Panama to the approaches with the authorities, after the questions about the agreements reached this weekend in San Félix and Veraguas; In addition, he explained why he has not participated in either of the two negotiations.

“We are not about to arrive and make a media show or anything like that, we are doing work with the teachers’ unions, producers, other sectors of different branches to support lowering the price of fuel to B/.3.00, the prices of the basic basket and so on, the reduction of medicines,” said García.

Despite the fact that the table was represented by the Minister of Government, Janaina Tewaney, and other high-ranking members of the Executive, including the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, and Vice President Gabriel Carrizo, Toribio García assured that “the government has done everything backwards, The Government Minister at this time has not picked up a single phone to call this server and handpicked many of the people who were at the table and signed some agreements without the consent of the population.

Regarding the willingness to sit down at the dialogue table, the leader emphasized being “willing to compromise our positions to continue negotiating on the issue of the basic food basket, medicines; however, the first point and what the people have asked for is that fuel is lowered to $3.00, that is not negotiable,”

García stated that if the president had reacted or approached 15 days ago, this situation of chaos would not be taking place. However, he indicated that “this is the only way that the people have to exert pressure in order to achieve the objective.”

“We regret the lack of will that until now, even at a dialogue table, even in a conversation with the president, an agreement was not reached yesterday at the table in Santiago de Veraguas, to lower the price of fuel and lower it to B /3.00”, he pointed out.
