Juan José Santiváñez, when he was not yet Minister of the Interior, held conversations with PNP Captain Junior Izquierdoin which he asked her for information about the president’s brother, Nicanor Boluarte. He also insinuated that the head of state was providing favors to Congress so that she would not be impeached.
The chats were broadcast in a report by Punto Final, in which the conversations were shown in full. However, it was not only messages, but also voice recordings that Sántiváñez sent to Izquierdo.
In response, the head of the Interior denied the conversations. “Mr. Juan José Santiváñez did not hold any position in the public sector or in the Ministry of the Interior on March 30 of this year. In addition, he has never requested information about citizen Nicanor Boluarte. (…) Therefore, the Minister of the Interior does not recognize any audio or any information in this regard, making it clear that in the event of any accusation in this regard that attempts to insinuate anything, he will take action,” Mininter press told Punto Final.

Juan José Santiváñez’s chats: these were the messages he sent to ‘Culebra’
Below we detail what the conversations between Juan José Santiváñez and ‘Culebra’according to the WhatsApp screenshots presented by Punto Final.
First, as a background, it is necessary to clarify that last Monday, March 25, Minister Juan José Santivañez Antúnez resigned from his position as head of the Cabinet of Advisors of the Ministry of the Interior. Two days later, on the night of March 28, a television program announced that a raid was coming to the home of Dina Boluarte.
Seeing this, Santiváñez asked ‘Culebra’ if he could confirm the information that began to circulate that night.
– Santiváñez: Friend. Firm or fake?
Not getting any answers, he called ‘Culebra’, but he did not answer his call either.
-‘Snake’: We are not in charge of the Rolex case. That is being handled by the Attorney General’s Office. And as far as I know, they have not asked for support from DIVIAC. Unless they do so with the support of another unit.
-Santiváñez: But is it firm? Have you heard anything? Is it firm?
-‘Snake’: That Butters is a big mouth. Clown
-Santiváñez: Yes. But it would be logical given what has happened. It is not unreasonable.
-‘Snake’: It would be logical. But you have to look at the context. If they did it, would it be in the interest of the prosecution if that loudmouth just blurted out the news?
-Santiváñez: No, because it would be a surprise. But he already said it. I would do it anyway. I mean, I would do it anyway.
-‘Snake’: Oh, sure.

Later, on March 29, at night, Santivañez contacted ‘Culebra’ again. This time he asked for the search warrant for Dina Boluarte’s house, but his partner told him that he did not have the document.
-‘Snake’: It’s locked. I’ll check.
-Santiváñez: Please, brother
-‘Snake’: I am consulting
-Santiváñez: I have seen the RPP photos that my press friends sent me.
-‘Snake’: It’s just been a quiet place
-Santiváñez: There’s Harvey
-‘Snake’: I don’t have it, Juanjo. I’m not in the execution and it’s hard for them to give it to me anyway.
-Santiváñez: He has asked Aunt Popular Force for four ministries and he has chosen two. If Aunt Popular Force does not rob them, he will be vacated tomorrow.
Unable to anticipate the raid on the president’s house, Santiváñez sought to determine whether or not there were plans to arrest Nicanor Boluarte. To find out this, he did not resort to the messages but to a voice recording. “What happens is that I need to define, exactly as they say, my final points. So, what I want to know, more than anything, is if there is any issue right now against the brother. It is important to me, mainly for the information,” he told ‘Culebra’.
