With a real escalation in prices in just a few days, Paraguayan students in Russia are going through a difficult economic time and request help from the Abdo government.
The Association of Paraguayan Students of Russia (APER) is extremely affected by the economic sanctions imposed on that country, since as a result of the measures, the ruble reaches 110 per dollar, and even 140, after having remained in 75 per dollar.
“The prices of the basic basket are rising, for example, the price of milk rose from 40 to 120 rubles,” lamented the head of APER, Marcelo de Beitía, in communication with the 800 AM station.
This makes the cost of living more expensive and therefore, the resources that were usually enough to survive, today are not enough.
The intern said that all Russians are withdrawing money from their bank accounts and that there is practically no cash in ATMs.
The Association requests provisional assistance from the Paraguayan Government, at least for the duration of the financial crisis caused by the armed conflict.
Currently, about 60 Paraguayan students are in Russia, of which 40 are beneficiaries of the Carlos Antonio López scholarship program, according to Andrea Picaso, director of BECAL.
