Like all years, those faithful to the Afro-Umbandista religion will celebrate the cult to Iemanjátheir goddess of the sea.
This tradition takes place every February 2so this year will fall this Thursday.
The devotees of this festivity take advantage of the day to ask Iemanjá, through offerings, to work your miracles in cases of illness or personal problems; in addition, believers also provide offerings by way of thanks. The gifts are deposited in the water waiting for the goddess of the sea to take them away.
In Montevideo, the preferred place for the celebration is the Ramirez beachin Parque Rodó, where hundreds of people gather year after year and where preparations begin early for the party, which takes place at night.
