IE Ricardo Menéndez from El Tambo has been waiting for years for a sports coliseum

On the verge of celebrating its 87th institutional anniversary, IENº 31509 “Ricardo Menéndez Menéndez” of the El Tambo district, faces mixed feelings. Added to the joy for yet another anniversary is frustration over the delay of more than six years in the execution of a sports coliseum project that remains stalled in the Regional Government of Junín (GRJ).

Director Narciso Contreras explained that the project’s technical file was approved several years ago and has a resolution and all the required documents, but the necessary budget has not yet been assigned.

“Every time we go, they tell us ‘we will visit you tomorrow’, but that tomorrow never comes. The only thing missing is political will,” said the teacher, pointing out that the value of the project went from one million to more than two million soles due to the updates and increased costs.

The director indicated that parents and teachers are considering carrying out a peaceful mobilization to demand the attention of the GRJ.

“It seems that the authorities like us to protest. We are more than 800 parents and we have marched before; if there is no response, we will do it again,” He warned, also pointing out that a roof is also required in the patio of the institution to mitigate the sun’s rays and heavy rains.
