The atmospheric behavior in Colombia keeps authorities and communities on alert due to the continuity of the rains and the progressive increase in humidity in large areas of the country. The most recent report from the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) indicates that precipitation will continue to be present, especially in regions where soils already register high levels of saturation.
This condition increases the probability of emergencies related to landslides, floods and flash floods, forcing prevention and monitoring measures to be reinforced in vulnerable territories.
Persistently humid and cloudy conditions will continue to dominate the climate outlook in much of the country over the next few days.

Regions with greater pressure due to rain
IDEAM points out that the greatest impact from rainfall will be concentrated in the Pacific, the west of the Andean region and sectors of the southeastern Amazon, where rains could remain continuous.
Among the departments with the highest probability of intense rains are:

Cauca and Nariño
Quindío and Risaralda
Western Boyacá and Cundinamarca
Tolima, Vaupés and Amazonas
In other areas of the country, such as sectors of the Caribbean, Antioquia, Santanderes, Eje Cafetero and Meta, rains are also expected, although with variable intensity.
The persistence of precipitation in Areas with saturated soils increase the risk of natural emergencies.

Municipalities on alert for landslides and floods
One of the factors that most concerns is the stability of the terrain. At the moment, 455 municipalities are under some level of alert for landslideswhile 77 remain on red alertposing a significant threat to communities and infrastructure.
The departments with the highest level of risk are:

Huila
Nariño
In hydrological matters, several basins register critical conditions due to possible sudden floods and flooding, especially in the Magdalena-Cauca, Pacific and Caribbean regions.
The increase in terrain instability increases the probability of landslides in several regions of the country.
Impact on main cities
Climatic variations will also be reflected in urban centers. Predominantly cloudy conditions are expected with episodes of light rain at different times of the day.
Bogotá will experience brief drizzles in the afternoon. Medellín will have light sectorized rains. Cali will register weak rainfall at the beginning of the day with a tendency to improve. Barranquilla and Cartagena will maintain cloudy skies with occasional rains.
These conditions could affect mobility and daily activities.
Climatic contrasts: forest fires and maritime alert
Although several regions face excess rainfall, others maintain dry conditions that favor the risk of forest fires. More than 50 municipalities are under alert, mainly in areas of the Andean and Caribbean region.
At the same time, the Caribbean Sea remains under an orange alert due to high waves and strong winds, which represents a risk for maritime operations and coastal communities.
The country faces a dual climate scenario: persistent rains in several regions and dry conditions with risk of fires in others.
