In this regard, what did Ideam say about the rain forecast for the first month of the year?
In information provided through the Short, medium and long term prediction report, the entity pointed out that it was carried out based on the dynamic-statistical scale reduction taking as reference some rainfall data with global models that integrate a North American ensemble (NNME) and some sources such as CHIRPS, ERA5, IRI-Colombia Data Library and seasons.
Below we leave you the information taking into account each region of the country:
Caribbean Region: There will be a decrease in rainfall of at least between 10% and 30% except in La Guajira where there will be an increase in rainfall by at least 10% to 20%.

Andean Region: It will have rainfall within the climatological averages except in the eastern part of the department of Cundinamarca, Boyacá, Santander and northern Santander where there will probably be some decreases.
Pacific Region: There will be rain in a large part of the territory except in the south of the Chocó Coast, the Nariño coast. An increase between 10% and 20% is estimated.
Amazon: An increase in rainfall is possible. In Guaviare and also in Piedemonte de Caquetá there will be a reduction of up to 30%.
Orinoquía: During the first month of 2025, decreases in precipitation are estimated with a percentage between 10% and 40%.

San Andrés and Providencia: Finally, in this sector there will be an increase in rainfall above the climatological averages, indicated the IDEAM.
“The weather conditions of the country for the beginning of 2025 will not only depend on the seasonal cycle of the time of year and the fluctuations associated with the Madden & Julian oscillation and other equatorial waves, but also the uncertainty in the evolution of interannual variability phenomena associated with ENSO,” the document states.

Previously, IDEAM made a differentiation between the months where Colombians will be able to perceive the most variations:
– January to March 2025: Minimum temperatures around 12 °C and maximum temperatures of up to 19 °C are anticipated. It is advisable to wear warm clothing due to possible drops in temperature.
– July 2025: Minimum temperatures are forecast around 11°C, while maximum temperatures could reach 18°C. Although the weather will be pleasant, it is suggested to be prepared for possible rain.
