The Dominican Republic has increased its air operations between 2020 and 2025registering 1,074,925 during that period and allowing the mobilization of 88,234,771 passengers to and from the country, according to the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC).
- Only in the 2025 more than 217,000 operations flights, in a context in which the country received 11.7 million visitors, of which 98% entered by air, reflecting the strategic importance of air transportation for the performance of the tourism sector.
The general director of IDAC, Igor Rodríguez Duránpointed out that the sustained growth of the tourism After the post-pandemic reopening, it has contributed to consolidating the Dominican Republic as one of the most important destinations in the Caribbean and the region.
Promoting the civil aviation
Rodríguez Durán offered these statements at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) that officially ends today, where the IDAC participated as a regulatory body and promoter of the civil aviationin support of the public policies of the Ministry of Tourism and allies with the vision of the Executive Branch.
Likewise, he announced that during this year the IDAC will execute “the greater investment” in modern equipment of air navigation, with the aim of strengthening operational safety, a key aspect for international air operators.
With these actions, the Dominican Republic reaffirms its commitment to the development of tourism and the civil aviation as fundamental pillars for the economic growth of the country.
