The Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), in its firm transformation process, continues executing works that benefit Panamanians, and in this sense it is building the project “Study, Design, Construction, Operation and Maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant of Chiriquí Grande and Supply Networks, province of Bocas del Toro”, in order to provide a better service in this area of the country.
The work that is built at a cost of B/. 37,997,305.01 by the RB Chiriquí Grande Consortium, will provide some 5.50 million gallons per day, benefiting more than 11,000 residents of Chiriquí Grande, Miramar, Chiriquicito 1 and 2, Punta Peña, Rambala and Cañazas.
The project, which currently has a physical progress of 38%, contemplates the construction of the Raw Water Intake, Water Treatment Plant, Adduction Line, Potable Water Storage Tank in the district of Chiriquí Grande, as well as the Conduction Line and Potable Water Distribution Networks that consist of 66 kilometers: 33 kilometers in PVC piping and 33 kilometers in ductile iron; in addition to the construction of the Commercial Agency Building of 225 m2.
Among the advances in the construction of the work, trench excavation and installation of potable ductile iron pipes of 10”, 16” and 24” inches have been carried out. Placement of shoring from 1.50 m onwards to avoid possible collapses.
At the same time, the placement and compaction of a sand bed along the excavation with a thickness of 10 centimeters has been carried out; filled with sand, 30 cm above the pipe along the potable ductile iron pipe of 10”, 16” and 24” inches.
Likewise, compaction has been carried out in 30-centimeter layers along the pipeline installation and protective blocks have been placed at shallower depths, as well as stormwater crossings and pressure tests.
On the other hand, in installed networks, 34,302.75 meters have been placed, equivalent to 34 kilometers.
It is important to note that once the construction phase of the work is completed, the contractor will operate and maintain the System for a period of 3 years.
In this way, IDAAN continues to work so that Panamanian homes receive an efficient water supply 24 hours a day, and while the construction of the work lasts, it promotes the economic development of the area, generating jobs and improving their quality of life. .
