Every time it rains in the province of Colón, the streets flood giving the impression of a small Venice in the Atlantic, both the poor disposal of waste and the collapse of the pluvial system have their part in these floods; For this reason, the authorities took action on the matter seeking to mitigate this situation.
The Ministry of Public Works (MOP), together with the Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN) began cleaning the drainage system of the city of Colón.
This operation is carried out with the vactor vehicle to try to uncover the drejane system that remains clogged due to sediment and garbage, which are not collected in a timely manner.
The obstruction of the drainage means that the water does not follow its course to the pumping system, which generates flooding in the center of the city.
According to the authorities, these operations will continue periodically at various points in the center of the city of Colón and thus avoid constant flooding as much as possible.
