Icetex opens full scholarships to learn English from home: last days to register

He Colombian Institute of Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad (Icetex) launched a new call for full scholarships to learn English in virtual mode, in alliance with the international platform Rosetta Stonewith the aim of strengthening bilingualism in the country.

The call, which started on October 29, 2025will be available until December 15, 2025 before midnight, or until the request limit established by the entity is completed. In total, they offer 800 places to access this training program in English.

The initiative seeks expand access to bilingualism studies in different regions of Colombia, through a flexible academic offer that combines asynchronous sessions with weekly synchronous meetings. The course will have a total duration of 120 hoursdistributed in 80 hours of direct academic training and 40 hours of autonomous work.

According to Icetex, the program will start on January 16, 2026 and will end on July 15 of the same year.

Modality and technological requirements

As it is a completely training virtualapplicants must have a computer, tablet or mobile phone, as well as a stable internet connection. The course is compatible with browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge (in recent versions) and Updated Safari.

Who can apply for 100% scholarships to study English?

The call is directed to Colombian citizens residents in any part of the national territory who have completed university studies baccalaureate, technical, technological training or undergraduate in institutions recognized by the Ministry of National Education.

Documents necessary to apply to the Icetex call

Applicants must upload the following documents to the platform, all in PDF format and with good readability:

• Identity document: copy of both sides of the citizenship card.
• Academic training support: diploma and certificate of bachelor’s degree, technician, technologist or professional. For foreign titles, you must attach the official validation.
• Commitment letter: form enabled by the call, signed by the applicant.
• Socioeconomic certification: capture of Sisbén IV updated in 2025 or recent public service bill (no older than 30 business days).
• Residence certificate: issued by the mayor of the municipality of residence, with a maximum validity of 60 business days.
• Academic certificate: Minimum cumulative average of 3.5 out of 5 for technicians, technologists or undergraduate students. For high school students, results of the ICFES Saber 11 with a global score equal to or greater than 240 points.

How do you know if you were selected for the scholarship?

The selection process is based on a maximum score of 100 pointsdistributed in three factors: socioeconomic conditions, academic performance and regional origin.

In the socioeconomic component, people classified in Sisbén IV among A1 and B7 They can get up to 20 points. Those with a socioeconomic status may receive between 13 points (strata 1 and 2) and 1 point (stratum 6).

The academic criteria assigns up to 40 points for averages between 4.7 and 5.0, while averages between 3.5 and 3.6 obtain 10 points. In the case of high school graduates, the score is defined according to the results of the ICFES.

Finally, the category of the municipality of residence can grant up to 40 points for those who live in territories classified as category 5 or 6.
