Jorge Javier Rodríguez Cabrera arrived in the US in 2022 asking for asylum and founded a shipping and trip company to Cuba, questioned by his links with Castroism.
Madrid, Spain.- The United States Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) arrested Jorge Javier Rodríguez Cabrera, former Cuban official with direct links with the Castro family and current owner of a shipping company and tourist services to Cuba. The arrested occurred on Monday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The news was initially announced by presenter Alexander Otaolawho wrote on Facebook: “ICE has just arrested the friend of the crab, owner of the travel and shipping agency to Cuba. That to which so many ‘artists and influencers’ promote. Javier Rdgz Cabrera, prisoner.”
Rodríguez Cabrera, 40, arrived in the United States in 2022 requesting political asylum with his wife and children, After crossing the southern border as part of Cuban’s mass exodus. However, his history reveals a close relationship with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba (Minrex) and with Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, aka “El Cangrejo”, grandson of the dictator Raúl Castro. A 2015 photograph shows it with both during an official visit to the US in the mandate of Barack Obama.
Despite its asylum application, in 2024 Rodríguez Cabrera founded Great blue LLCa company with headquarters in cities such as Miami, Houston, Orlando and Las Vegas. It offers door to door services, sale of articles and tourist packages to Cuba. His business has been widely promoted by public figures of Cuban exile, which generated criticism when knowing his background.
According to press reports, Rodríguez maintained contact with “El Crab” even after establishing himself in the US in a video broadcast in 2023 he was seen on a yacht next to Raúl Castro’s grandson and his partners.
