The interprovincial buses stranded at kilometer 278 of the Panamericana Sur, in the Barrio Chino area, in the province of Pisco, region Ica, have been attacked by stones by a group of demonstrators who participate in the national carrier strike. According to an affected passenger in statements to Latina, this violent attitude of the protesters is because they refuse to pay quotas.

“It came from Puno to Lima and in Ica we were caught by all this strike. We are stranded for two days, other people for three days, asking us for quotas, they do not let us enter, they are thugs and criminals”, said Valeria, one of the passengers on one of the interprovincial buses attacked with large stones.
The passenger asked for more police support so that they can control the violent situation perpetrated by this group of protesters that endangers the integrity of several people who are on board the interprovincial buses.
“The situation is uncontrollable again. In fact, the vandals have come bus by bus throwing stones at them. We are next to a truck with fuel gas and they are trying to attack another truck. People are very desperate, and crying. We feel alone and we have no help,” she said.

“They don’t care that there are children and older adults, they just throw huge stones. They hit the buses with sticks. The worst thing is that they don’t finish because they continue with the buses that are behind us.. They keep doing the same thing to them, and no one is helping us,” she said.
