During a mega-operation carried out this morning, agents of the High Complexity Division (Diviac) in coordination with the Office of the Prosecutor against Organized Crime captured 27 members belonging to two alleged criminal organizations that were dedicated to extorting local merchants and businessmen in the region Ica and also qualified homicide and robbery. Among those arrested are five policemen and a watchman.

The intervention began at 3:00 am in the Rosario neighborhood, in the city of Chincha. The Public Ministry, through its official Twitter account, detailed that in the mega-operation, led by the provincial prosecutor of the First Corporate Prosecutor for Organized Crime of Ica, Samir Palomino Cruz, various properties located in the cities of Chincha were raided , Ica and Pisco.
Firearms and explosives were seized during the raid. The prosecution process had the support of 65 prosecutors from FECOR and more than 500 members of the National Police.
The Public Ministry indicated that one of the criminal organizations was dedicated to collecting quotas from merchants in the Chincha market, who were injured if they did not pay “for their protection.” The other criminal gang is investigated for the crimes of qualified homicide, robbery and reception of vehicles.
