In an auction held today (21) on the B3, the government of Minas Gerais granted the state parks of Ibitipoca and Itacolomi to the private initiative. Parques Fundos de Investimento em Participações em Infraestrutura paid BRL 3.5 million for the concession, almost nine times the minimum amount stipulated in the notice of BRL 391.4 thousand.
The company will be responsible for managing and maintaining the park’s attractions and will be able to explore visitation and ecotourism activities for 30 years. The privatization plan prepared by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) foresees investments of R$ 15 million over the next six years.

The Ibitipoca State Park is located in the municipality of Lima Duarte, in the Zona da Mata region, and has an area of approximately 1,500 hectares. The conservation area receives approximately 90,000 visitors a year who come to enjoy the waterfalls and caves.
The Itacolomi State Park is located in the cities of Ouro Preto and Mariana and has an area of 5,900 hectares, receiving around 15,000 visitors per year. The park has waterfalls, caves and historic buildings, as well as Pico do Itacolomi, 1,700 meters high.
