IBGE’s 2022 Census contest results released

The result of the simplified selection process (PSS) of the 2022 Demographic Census, from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), was released today (20) by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), the company organizing the contest.IBGE's 2022 Census contest results released

Candidates for the vacancies of census taker, municipal census agent (ACM) and supervisory census agent (ACS) should consult the result on the FGV website.

According to the IBGE, in cases of a tie in the final grade, the chosen work area, municipality and state were respected, being the first tie-breaking criterion, in compliance with the Elderly Statute, guaranteeing the vacancy for those of equal age or over 60 years old until the last day of registration. The second criterion was the grade in the Technical Knowledge discipline, followed by the grade in Portuguese Language and Ethics in Public Service. All tie-breaking criteria are included in the public notice of the selection process.

Convocation

Once the final result has been announced, the next step will be to call and then those approved will be called by IBGE to carry out training.

According to the agency, more than 621,000 people applied for vacancies distributed in 5,297 municipalities in the country, which are divided into 206,891 temporary workers for the Census, of which 183,021 are census takers, with training scheduled for July 18 to 22; 18,420 for ACS and 5,450 for ACM, both scheduled for training June 6-15.

“The other successful candidates will be kept on a waiting list, and may be called later, according to the public notice. Training for census takers will have an eliminatory and qualifying nature and will be carried out by the IBGE in two stages: self-instruction and face-to-face”, informed the IBGE.

Test

Those who competed for the position of census taker had to answer 50 questions, 10 of which were about Portuguese, 10 about Mathematics, 5 about Ethics in the Public Service and 25 about Technical Knowledge.

For ACM and ACS there were 60 questions, divided into 10 of Portuguese Language, 10 of Quantitative Logical Reasoning, 5 of Ethics in Public Service, 15 of Notions of Administration / Managerial Situations and 20 of Technical Knowledge.

For the selection process, the candidates received from the IBGE a handout of technical knowledge so that they would have access to the necessary information to answer the questions about the census operation.

Completion of elementary school was a requirement for the census taker position. The professional earns per production and will work directly in the collection of information, interviewing the residents of the households.

To be ACM, who manages the work of the collection point; and ACS, subordinated to the ACM, whose main function is to guide census takers during the execution of field work; the requirement was to have completed high school. Salaries are BRL 2,100 and BRL 1,700, respectively.

2022 census

The IBGE estimates that around 215 million inhabitants will be interviewed, in more than 70 million households, as of August 1, in the country’s 5,570 municipalities.

“The Census will reveal the characteristics of households, ethnic-racial identification, marriage, family nucleus, fertility, religion or cult, disability, internal or international migration, education, commuting to study, work and income, commuting to work, mortality and autism. Conducted every ten years, the survey is the main source of reference on the living conditions of the population in all municipalities in the country”, informed the IBGE.
