In the previous quarter, ending in May 2024, the rate had been 7.1%. In the same period of the previous year, that is, the quarter ending in August 2023, the rate had been 7.8%.

The unemployed population was 7.3 million, the lowest number since the quarter ended in January 2015. The number is 6.5% lower than in the previous quarter (502 thousand people less) and 13.4% lower than the previous year (minus 1.1 million).

The total number of workers in the country reached a record: 102.5 million. The increases are 1.2% compared to the previous quarter (1.2 million more jobs) and 2.9% compared to the previous year (2.9 million more people).
