The Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) announced that “an international delegation will develop this week in Washington DC a program of interviews with United States legislators and officials” with the aim of exposing the cases of persecution, repression and violence in Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico and Venezuela against journalists.
In a release, the agency announced that the delegation will be headed by its president Jorge Canahuati. The IAPA mission will remain in the United States from May 24 to 26.
The IAPA also indicated that the meeting will address the “behavior” of press freedom in the Americas and the sustainability of the media in the region.
