During his first day in Lima, the delegation of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) met with authorities and representatives of organizations of human rights to receive information about the political crisis and the protests carried out in recent days, which have left more than 20 people dead so far, as well as dozens injured in various regions of the country.
The group is chaired by the executive secretary of the IACHR, Tania Reneaum, and made up of María Claudia Pulido, Laura Morelo, Fernanda Dos Anjos, Giovanny Ferreira, Thiago Dezan, Miguel Mesquita and Corina Leguizamón.
The delegation began its work by meeting in the morning with President Dina Boluarte at the Government Palace, I find that it lasted for an hour. The IACHR delegation received information on violations of human rights in the context of the protests, from journalists and representatives of social organizations.
