On Saturday night a man asked a young woman who was changing on the border of the Paso Molino and Prado neighborhoods (Montevideo), to act as if he were his partner. They walked a few blocks together, while the man –today sentenced for aggravated deprivation of liberty– grazed his neck with a knife. It happened before the eyes of Danny Alonsoa worker who saw the suspicious attitude, and knew instantly that those who walked through the dark blocks were not a couple.
“I went in to chase, the man looked back a lot because I was coming”Alonso said this Wednesday to Underlined (channel 10), and recounted how the events happened. The three people walked in the same direction. “He came very close to her, something strange was going to do (…) At that moment I did not think of anything, I went straight because I saw that he was taking her. At the time I didn’t see if he had a gun,” she recounted.
And he continued: “He squeezed her neck and took her. He squeezed her mouth, she couldn’t speak (…) He didn’t want to rob her; because if not, he would take out her cell phone, which was in her hand (…) he was taking her, he took her to a dark block, and with a ‘stuff’ (for a knife) on her neck”.
Alonso is a sex worker, and she said that because of her work she carried a razor what, closedit served to hit him on the head man of about 50 years, who was sentenced this Wednesday to 15 months of effective prison.
“Ta, what do you want me to do?”was the reaction of a second man (witness) who saw the situation, but who did not accompany Alonso when she asked him for help.
Once the aggressor released the woman, at Alonso’s insistence, both chased him for a few blocks, as verified by the local cameras.
The man – who had two priors for robbery – then told them that if they approached, he would stab them and kill them.
“El Paso (Molino) is brave,” concluded Alonso, who was asked by journalists how to reward him for his bravery, and asked for “a job to get off the street.”

“I called the police as soon as he released me and we started chasing him”, continued the story. The young woman also began to record the man and then uploaded the video to Twitter. For her, “it was more than just a robbery.” She maintained that if that had been her intention, she would have stolen his “backpack full of things.”
The incident occurred this Saturday in Agraciada and Pilar Costa, in Paso Molino.
