An article in our media reported on two complaints of attacks against the current governor of San Pedro and current candidate for senator for the ANR “Honor Colorado”, Carlos Giménez Díaz. These are alleged physical attacks reported by journalists in 2017 and 2020 respectively.
The governor wanted to give his version of the facts about this situation. He stated about the first complaint when he was mayor of Choré that it is completely untrue. Since he was in Asunción and was accused of assault in that inland city. It deals with an accusation from a radio announcer who accused Giménez of wanting to run him over and pointing a firearm at him.
“Such a thing never happened. At the time I clarified. When paying the toll, my photo is seen so it can be verified that I was not there and that these accusations are false, ”she explained.
Regarding the event that occurred in 2020, where journalists accuse him of having received attacks when wanting to verify the irregular use of government machinery in Giménez Díaz’s ranch, he pointed out that the person he attacked was not a journalist, but a man who he worked for his political rival Fredy D’ecclesiis.
“They entered my private property about 15 kilometers away. They broke my lock, and entered without authorization with vans without license plates, without any press logo. Because he was posing as a journalist for Última Hora. I called the correspondent of that outlet and he told me it wasn’t him. I found out and realized that he was a person who entered my property, ”he explained.
In a video it is observed that after this, both the alleged journalist and the governor were at the local police station. To which the latter lashes out with fists at the former. Regarding this, he states that at the police station he received all kinds of insults from the man.
“I am a person who, like any other, can react. No one is going to like running into a guy at their house,” she commented.
DECENTRALIZATION
The candidate for the Senate affirms that he wants to work for real decentralization. Since in the rural sector he lives with great precariousness.
