The former head of the High Complexity Crime Investigation Division (Diviac), Colonel PNP Harvey Colchadoofficially announced his decision to apply for the Congress of the Republic in the 2026 general elections.
The statement was given during an interview on RPP, where he maintained that his departure from the police institution marks the beginning of his foray into political life.
“Today I decide to leave my institution, no longer try to return to the Police and enter a political career. I want and I am going to run for Congress because corruption is in Congress. There is the mother of the lamb, and that is why I have decided to run,” he said.
Colchado, recognized for having led operations against criminal organizations and for his participation in investigations such as the ‘Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto’ case, assured that he is still evaluating which political party he will register to run for, although he stressed that his objective will be clear: confront corruption from within Parliament itself.
“What I am going to do now is evaluate which party I could do it with,” he said.
He criticized the current Congress
During the interview, Colchado launched harsh criticism against the current composition of the Legislature, which he accused of having promoted decisions and laws that, according to him, favor criminal groups and economic powers.
“It is not possible that they give these pro-crime laws, it is not possible that they forgive debts to large companies. How is it possible that there are congressmen who ‘cut nails’, ‘kill dogs’, who hire relatives, raise their salaries, poorly choose members of the Constitutional Court, of the National Board of Justice, or who want to abusively reform the justice system to appoint prosecutors and judges from their environment?”, he questioned.
