Javier Acosta, a young Millonarios fan and father of a little girl, will undergo euthanasia (an assisted death procedure) next Friday, August 30. He spoke about his situation in a moving story on Facebook.
“Last time I did a live broadcast telling you that my health was bad, that I was waiting for a miracle. Well, brothers, I want to tell you that there was no miracle,” were the words with which Javier began the broadcast.

The young man said that a few years ago, during a trip to Tuluá, he was left in a wheelchair after an accident, and since then his scourge began, which he will end in the next few days: “I give up,” he said.
Years after losing mobility in his legs, he said that he was on a trip to Melgar (Tolima), where, when he got into a pool, he contracted a bacteria that would change his life. “A fungus that can affect anyone.”
He said that when he arrived in Bogotá, a few days later he developed a large ulcer on his left buttock and had to undergo surgery. “Everything went well,” but the disease was more aggressive and spread to the right buttock, causing osteomyelitis (a bone infection).
“They discovered that the bacteria had destroyed my tissues and bones, and they gave me two options: one was to end the treatment and amputate my right leg without guaranteeing that it would spread to the other leg and I would be left without legs,” he said.
Javier Acosta was diagnosed with blood cancer
After some tests, the young man said that the results were not encouraging at all and, unfortunately, he was informed that he had blood cancer. “There is no treatment that is worth it. Why am I doing the live broadcast now? Because I have a lymph node here in the back of my head, internally, where the infection is also. It has already reached my little head and at any moment it will leave me unable to speak, unable to express myself, and later I will not be able to say goodbye to everyone,” he said with a broken voice.
Next Friday he will undergo euthanasia: “Everyone saw my process, everyone saw what I fought, what I suffered, that’s why my states, my stories saying goodbye. On Friday, God willing, at this time I will no longer be in this world, I will be resting next to my grandparents up there,” he said.
The cancer he predicted is “killing” him
The young man said that during his years he suffered several accidents, but that, fortunately, none of them ended his life. One day, talking to his sister about these stories, he told her that “at least, at least cancer is going to kill me.” His sister told him to stop saying that, that words have weight, and he said: “And what is killing me? A f… cancer.”
Finally, Javier asks for prayers, for him not to be forgotten, and he thanked the people who were there during his process. “I say goodbye, sorry for everything good, for everything bad… this crack is leaving. Javi was born on June 6, 1988 and dies, God willing, on August 30, 2024,” he concluded.
