MIAMI, United States. — Marbelis Vázquez Hernández, wife of the protester on July 11, 2021 (11J) Daniel Joel Cardenas Diazdenounced the difficult situation that she and her children face since the inmate is in prison.
In an exclusive testimonial for CubaNetthe woman exposed different issues ranging from the high cost of transportation to the Agüica prison (Matanzas) to the unsanitary conditions and shortage of medicines in a hospital where she had to take one of her daughters.
“I made a direct statement saying that my daughter and my son did not go to school anymore as long as my husband’s situation was not resolved and they took him to a closer prison and I did not have to pay 15,000 pesos for a trip so that my children can go see it,” said Vázquez Hernández.
The wife of the political prisoner indicated that the provincial authorities wanted to put her “to work cleaning in a hospital for 2,100 pesos,” to which she flatly refused.
“I told them that I was not going to clean a hospital because I was not going to bring a virus home. In this country there are no medicines, there is no food, there is nothing, and for 2,100 pesos I was not going to do that. And I told the Party: “with 2,100 pesos I cannot buy a package of chicken for your sister-in-law, who sells it to me for 3,800 pesos, so that my son can eat,” she explained.
“Since my husband is in that prison, I have been left alone with three minor children: my three-year-old twins and a 12-year-old, so I have had to face this whole situation alone,” the woman lamented.
Likewise, Marbelis Vázquez Hernández indicated that her daughter was diagnosed with a virus and that she remained admitted to a hospital without conditions.
“I brought her to the hospital and after an hour to be able to see the doctor they sent her some tests. After another hour for her to do the tests, the tests came back positive, she has a possible virus, according to them, which is like COVID-19 ”.
The inmate’s wife also maintained that due to her son’s condition, she had to leave her other two children with another family.
“I want to say and denounce that the hygiene is terrible, the bathrooms are very disgusting, you can’t even go to the bathroom, right now the girl got a fever, I told the doctor to lend her a thermometer and she told me that there was no thermometer, because the thermometer had broken in the morning and I told him to put a duralgin and there is no duralgin”.
Finally, the woman said that she had been the victim of an act of repudiation since at dawn she opened the door of her house after hearing some blows and “the floor was full of shit.”
“This is about a maneuver by State Security, who are in charge of carrying out all these crimes that they have committed with the families, because they no longer have a way to silence us. But they will never silence us, because while my husband is unjustly imprisoned I am going to be his voice until he and all the political prisoners are free. We are not going to shut up because we are not afraid, ”he pointed out.
