In response to these comments, the members of the Coosalud board assured that this statement was unsubstantiated and demanded a rectification from President Petro, in addition to questioning the complaint made by the Health Superintendence.
In this regard, in another message, the Colombian president assured that “I have nothing to retract. The irregularities in the EPS Coosalud must be investigated criminally. What does Coosalud say about the complaint?
Regarding the complaint made by the Health Superintendency, replicated by the head of state, the Coosalud board of directors said:
“Mr. President, you have pointed us out in an insulting and slanderous manner in an activity in which we have not participated in our capacity as members of the Board of Directors because the activity you refer to never existed. Unfortunately, ignorance and the desire to please the nominator “has caused the National Superintendent of Health to make statements that are openly contrary to the truth, apocryphal information that unfortunately you disseminated without prior verification.”says the document signed by Luis Fernando Caicedo, Óscar Giraldo, Sandra Neira, Rafael Santos, Oscar Silva, César Negret Mosquera and Jaime Pastrana Arango.
They add that “There is no decision on the part of the Board of Directors of Coosalud EPS to authorize the use of resources from the Capitation Payment Unit (UPC) other than the administration percentage. In this regard, an elementary or simple analysis of the trust contract and of the credit operation with the GNB Sudameris Bank to understand that the guarantee intended to support the credit operation consisted of the resources or income transferred from the IPS owned by the Coosalud cooperative group”.

The signatories point out that the resources that the bank debited for its benefit from the trust established were resources that the bank itself had disbursed to that guarantee instrument, as a result of the credit operation. “In addition, the cooperative’s own resources close to 50 billion were also funding the trust whose destination was none other than the fulfillment of the technical reserves of the EPS. No bank accepts exclusive resources as collateral”.
They insist that this shows that “There is no loss or different destination aimed at “recasting” Social Security resources”.
